Date: Saturday, October 25th
Time: 5:30pm - 8:00pm
Location: Embrace Church, 1015 N Limestone, Lexington KY 40505
Our "Make Your Own Mug" Workshops are a fun, easy way to try your hand at ceramics!
This class is geared towards beginners, and uses a method called "handbuilding." Clay and all tools and supplies will be provided for you. Tickets include instruction on how to create a mug and any help you need along the way. Each participant will construct a cylinder, add a bottom, and then attach a handle.
This class is a special one! After making our mugs, we'll also walk you through how to glaze these little ghosts onto your creation. Alternatively, if you'd like to try something on your own or just have us dip your mug in one of our house glazes, you can opt to do that instead.
We will fire your piece and let you know when it is finished. It can take up to three weeks for your piece to be fired. The class will conclude with a brief tour of the Matchstick studio and an opportunity to browse our shop.
Our workshops and studio are inside of Embrace Church, located at 1015 N Limestone. There is parking available on the side of the church on N Broadway Park, and also some spots behind the church. You can enter through the side entrance on N Broadway Park- we’ll be there to let you in and show you to where the workshop is taking place.
Clay and glaze usually comes out of clothes, and the specific methods we’ll be using are not very messy. However, if you’re worried about it, consider wearing dark colors. Dark color clothing is able to hide all clay stains and most glaze stains!
Certainly! Our workshops are beginner friendly and a great fit for ages 7 and up. We ask that there be a parent or guardian present who is ready to help as needed.
Your ticket and order confirmation will be emailed to you after your purchase. Please reach out if you have any issues!
Tickets for our classes can be refunded two or more weeks before the event. Cancellations less than two weeks in advance will be non-refundable due to limited availability of seats, and the fact that each class is promoted and offered individually. Tickets can be transferred to a friend, or you can let us know you're looking for a replacement for your spot, and we will let you know if there is anyone on the waitlist.
